Technical Note - GoodContacts Software and Exchange Address BooksIf you are running GoodContacts software with an email package working behind a Microsoft Exchange Server, there are a few things you must take into account to ensure that the GoodContacts software performs correctly. This Technical Note describes the operational differences for Outlook users when working with Exchange is their email server. For additional information about operating behind Exchange, see the following notes: Sending KITs on behalf of another person with GoodContacts and Exchange Optimizing GoodContacts to work with Exchange Address booksThe GoodContacts software can only access contact lists in either your Outlook Today (Mailbox) folders or Personal Folders. Users with write access to Exchange Public Folders can purchase an upgrade for their GoodContacts software that allows access to the public folders. Since few users have write access to the Exchange Global Address Book, GoodContacts does not attempt to read or update information in the Global Address Book. Refer to the on-line Help for details about setting up GoodContacts to work with Exchange public folders. If you wish to use GoodContacts software to verify addresses that are in the Global Address book, you must first copy the addresses into a contact list that GoodContacts can access for both reading and writing. To copy names from the Global Address book to your Personal Address book, do the following:
After you use GoodContacts to verify the information, you can ask your Exchange administrator to update the Global Address Book. This may require manual entry as the format of the information in your personal address book may differ from the Global Address Book. InboxExchange has virtually no impact on the operation of GoodContacts software. GoodContacts has access to the Exchange inbox, and processes replies to your Keep-in-Touch mailings as the responses arrive. |
